Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed appreciation to Health Minister Lalrinpuii and MUHCS officials for their dedicated efforts, stating that the scheme has enhanced the government’s reputation and brought significant relief to beneficiaries.

According to official data, a total of 2,88,702 families comprising 11,54,808 individuals have enrolled under MUHCS. This includes 20,198 families (80,792 persons), 10,236 pensioner families (40,944 persons), 35,325 government employee families (1,41,300 persons), and 2,22,943 families (8,91,772 persons) under AB-PMJAY.

During the current financial year, 29% of enrolled families have submitted medical claims, accounting for 7% of total beneficiaries. The average payout per patient stands at ₹15,106.

Since the scheme’s implementation, there has been a significant increase in patient inflow at government hospitals. About 70% of verified claims are from government hospitals, though they account for 39% of the total approved claim amount. Higher claim amounts from private hospitals are mainly due to treatment of serious illnesses such as brain, heart, and kidney surgeries. The meeting stressed the need to further strengthen government hospitals and limit referrals to non-empanelled private hospitals, except in emergency or life-threatening cases.

Although the rule mandates payment of claims to empanelled hospitals within 30 days, improved financial management has enabled faster disbursement, ensuring no major inconvenience to hospitals.

So far this financial year, MUHCS has received approximately ₹154 crore in funds, with ₹48 crore yet to be released. Of the 83,682 claims verified, around ₹126 crore has been disbursed, while claims worth about ₹38 crore remain under process and will be cleared soon.

The meeting also discussed measures to improve implementation in the coming financial year, including restructuring committees, dissolving the Core Committee, establishing Pharma Depots for affordable medicines, and preventing double subscription benefits.

Health Minister Lalrinpuii, Adviser to the Chief Minister TBC Lalvenchhunga, and other Governing Body members were present at the meeting.
