Itanagar/Bameng, February 23: Popular Bollywood playback singer Kanika Kapoor arrived in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday and received a warm welcome ahead of her much-anticipated performance at the Nyokum Yullo Golden Jubilee celebrations in Bameng, East Kameng district.

Kapoor landed at Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar, where festival organizers and well-wishers greeted her with bouquets and traditional hospitality. Expressing her excitement about visiting the state, the singer said she was looking forward to meeting local people and experiencing the rich culture of Arunachal Pradesh.
“I am more than excited to be in Arunachal Pradesh and look forward to interacting with the wonderful people here,” Kapoor said upon her arrival.
The acclaimed singer is scheduled to perform at 8 pm on February 24 and will serve as the star attraction of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. Known for delivering several Bollywood chartbusters, including Baby Doll, Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, Lovely, Tukur Tukur, Beat Pe Booty, and Oo Bolega, Kapoor's live concert is expected to draw thousands of spectators from across the state and neighboring regions.
The Nyokum Yullo festival is one of the most important traditional agrarian festivals of the Nyishi community. Celebrated annually, the festival symbolizes prayers for prosperity, peace, harmony, and a bountiful harvest. This year's edition holds special significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of the festival's organized celebrations in Bameng.

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee, organizers have planned an expanded programme featuring cultural performances, indigenous traditions, sporting events, exhibitions, and musical shows. The inclusion of a major Bollywood performer is aimed at attracting wider participation, particularly among young people, while showcasing Arunachal Pradesh's vibrant cultural heritage.
Organizers said the landmark celebration will blend tradition and modern entertainment, making it one of the largest Nyokum Yullo events ever held in East Kameng district.
