The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho during the meeting.

Following detailed discussions, the Union Minister approved the construction of 5,000 new houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY–G) for the financial year 2025–26. The initiative aims to provide permanent housing to IDPs affected by the recent crisis in the state.

The proposal, submitted earlier this month by the State Government, focuses on rehabilitating displaced families who lost their homes during the violence. In addition, the Union Rural Development Ministry has approved a special window under Awaas+ 2024 to document and verify eligible affected households.

Under this arrangement, the State Government has been permitted to continue beneficiary registration through the Awaas+ 2024 mobile application, strictly in accordance with PMAY–G guidelines.

Importantly, beneficiaries whose houses had earlier been sanctioned under PMAY–G but were subsequently destroyed during the violence will also be covered under the special rehabilitation project.

The development is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of displaced families and accelerate the state’s ongoing rehabilitation efforts.
