Himanta Biswa Sarma Lays Foundation for BTC Mini Secretariat, Flyover; Inaugurates Tangla Water Project

Udalguri, February 13; Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the BTC Mini Secretariat at Udalguri, marking a major push for administrative and infrastructure development in the Bodoland Territorial Region.

The Mini Secretariat will be constructed over 25 bighas of land at an estimated cost of around ₹150 crore. The proposed five-storey complex will house various Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) departments, a conference hall and a BTC Legislative Assembly building. The state-of-the-art facility will also include a guest house, residential quarters for officials and staff, along with internal roads and parking facilities.

During his visit, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for a Railway Flyover at Golma Chowk–Mission Chariali Road in Udalguri. The flyover, to be built at a cost of ₹63.45 crore, is expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time and contribute to the district’s socio-economic growth. A badminton facility is planned beneath the structure to ensure optimal use of public space.

In addition, Dr. Sarma virtually inaugurated the Tangla Town Water Supply Project (Phases I and II). The project, constructed under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme at a cost of ₹36 crore, aims to strengthen the supply of safe and reliable drinking water for residents of Tangla town.

The initiatives are part of the state government’s broader efforts to enhance infrastructure, improve public services and promote balanced development across Assam.
