The schemes - Chief Minister’s Jibon Prerana, Jibon Anuprerana and Nijut Babu Asoni - were rolled out during a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) programme held at the Jyoti Bishnu Antarjatik Kala Mandir in Khanapara.
Nijut Babu Asoni for Male Students
Under the newly announced Nijut Babu Asoni scheme, male students from economically underprivileged backgrounds enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses will receive financial assistance to continue their education. Undergraduate students will receive around ₹10,000 annually, while postgraduate students will get around ₹20,000 annually.
The scheme complements the existing Nijut Moina Asoni for girl students. According to the Chief Minister, both initiatives together aim to cover 10 lakh students each and boost higher education enrolment while discouraging social evils such as child marriage.
Jibon Prerana for Fresh Graduates
Under the Jibon Prerana scheme, 48,319 fresh graduates from public institutions have been selected to receive ₹2,500 per month for 12 months through DBT. The assistance is intended to help graduates prepare for competitive exams, upskill and explore employment or entrepreneurship opportunities.
Jibon Anuprerana for Research Scholars
The Jibon Anuprerana scheme provides financial support to 2,112 research scholars, including 13 differently-abled scholars. Eligible PhD scholars will receive ₹25,000 per month, while differently-abled researchers will receive ₹40,000.
