Itanagar, February 8: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Sunday reaffirmed the state government's commitment to preserving and promoting indigenous spiritual traditions, emphasizing that faiths survive not only through belief but also through institutional support, education, and social recognition.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the Donyi Polo Cultural Centre–cum–Kargu Gamgi at Modirijo in Itanagar. The newly established centre is envisioned as a dedicated space for the practice, study, preservation, and promotion of the Donyi Polo faith, which remains an integral part of the cultural identity of several indigenous communities in Arunachal Pradesh.
In a message shared on social media following the inauguration, Khandu highlighted the importance of safeguarding traditional belief systems through structured efforts. He noted that indigenous faiths endure when they are documented, passed down through generations, and provided with appropriate academic and societal recognition.
The Chief Minister said the state government is actively working to strengthen institutions that facilitate the preservation and transmission of indigenous knowledge, customs, and spiritual traditions. According to him, such initiatives are essential to ensuring that future generations remain connected to their cultural roots while adapting to a rapidly changing world.
Khandu stressed that institutions like the Donyi Polo Cultural Centre play a crucial role in preserving heritage by creating spaces where traditional beliefs can be practiced, studied, and celebrated. He added that these centres help transform cultural preservation from a symbolic effort into a living process that encourages community participation and learning.
