Tura, February 13: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the commencement of the academic session at the Rikwarenggre Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) located in Samanda C&RD Block of East Garo Hills district.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the institution as a transformative step for tribal students of the region, stating that the EMRS will provide free, residential, and quality education to ensure inclusive growth and equal opportunities.
He emphasised that beyond academics, the school will focus on holistic development through sports, skill training, and the preservation of the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Sangma expressed hope that the institution would become a beacon of opportunity and inspiration for children in the area, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
