Aizawl, February 23, 2026: A two-member delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) has formally submitted a representation to the Governor of Mizoram regarding what they described as the illegal and provocative erection of a boundary pillar by the Central Young Lai Association (CYLA).

The delegation comprised Shri Durjya Dhan Chakma, District President of BJP-CADC, and Shri Doyal Chandra Dewan, Vice President. They alleged that on February 13, 2026, members of CYLA visited Parva village under the Chakma Autonomous District Council and installed a boundary pillar declaring the area as part of the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC).
According to the BJP leaders, the unilateral action has triggered strong resentment among the people of CADC. Shri Durjya Dhan Chakma termed the move “unwarranted and highly provocative,” warning that it could disrupt the long-standing peaceful coexistence and brotherhood between the Chakma and Lai communities.
He stressed that boundary-related matters must be addressed strictly through constitutional and administrative mechanisms rather than through unilateral actions by any organization.
The delegation recalled that between 1972 and 1977, following the re-organization of the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Region, a joint boundary verification was conducted by CADC and LADC authorities. During that period, the then Chief Executive Member of CADC, Shri Nilmoni Chakma, represented the council, and no dispute was reported.
They further stated that the eastern boundary is clearly defined in the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Region (Re-organization) Order, 1972, following the natural boundary of Sanghatuilo Lui (known as Rangapanisora in Chakma), supported by Survey Height Point 405.

The BJP delegation urged the Governor to order a thorough investigation and take immediate steps to remove the allegedly illegal boundary pillar to prevent any escalation of tension. They also appealed to all communities to maintain peace, harmony, and communal unity while the matter is being addressed.
The Governor reportedly gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured that necessary steps would be taken at the earliest.
Reaffirming its position, the BJP-CADC stated that it remains committed to safeguarding constitutional provisions, protecting the territorial integrity of CADC, and preserving peaceful inter-community relations in Mizoram.
