Replying to a question raised by Champhai North MLA Pu H. Ginzalala under the General Administration Department (GAD), the Chief Minister said the Ministry of Railways has already floated the tender for the project and that the station upgrade is expected to significantly improve passenger amenities and railway infrastructure in Mizoram.
The announcement comes months after the commissioning of the Bairabi–Sairang railway line, which connected the state capital region to the national railway network. Lalduhoma said the proposed modernization of Sairang Railway Station would further enhance connectivity, facilitate trade and tourism, and improve travel convenience for residents and visitors alike.
The Chief Minister also briefed the House on various infrastructure and administrative initiatives being pursued by the state government. He stated that efforts are underway to strengthen facilities available to Mizoram residents both within and outside the state. As part of these measures, Mizoram Houses in selected cities have been permitted to accommodate people from neighbouring Manipur, reflecting the state's commitment to extending support to those in need.
Addressing questions regarding the proposed expansion and construction of new Mizoram Houses in Guwahati (6 Mile) and Bengaluru, Lalduhoma said the government has been exploring alternative solutions due to financial constraints. He informed members that discussions are currently being held with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) regarding the utilisation of its available land in various cities for the construction of new government buildings and facilities.
The Chief Minister further informed the Assembly that land vacated by the Assam Rifles in Aizawl would be utilised to address the city's growing traffic congestion. According to him, the government has prepared plans to improve road infrastructure and ease traffic movement in the capital.

Among the proposed measures are the widening of the road stretch from Bazar Bungkawn to Treasury Square, one of the busiest traffic corridors in Aizawl. The government also plans to construct a bypass road connecting Saron Veng BCM Church to the Aizawl General Post Office, which is expected to reduce traffic pressure on existing routes and improve connectivity within the city.
In addition, the Chief Minister said efforts are being made to create more parking facilities in strategic locations across Aizawl. The shortage of parking space has long been identified as one of the key factors contributing to traffic congestion in the state capital.
Lalduhoma emphasized that infrastructure development remains a priority for the government and that projects relating to transportation, urban mobility, and public facilities are being pursued to support Mizoram’s long-term growth and development. He expressed confidence that the proposed railway, road, and administrative infrastructure projects would contribute significantly to improving the quality of life for citizens and strengthening the state's economic prospects.
