According to police, Manpang was returning from duty in Anini when the incident is believed to have occurred on Monday night. Late that night, his motorcycle was found abandoned along the highway in Mayudia, an area where repeated tiger movement has been reported over the past month. A search operation was launched thereafter, leading to the recovery of his body on Tuesday.

Confirming the incident, Mutchu Mithi, MLA of Roing, said Manpang was on his way back after completing official duty when the tragic attack took place. He said the incident has sent shockwaves across the region and has once again highlighted the growing concern over human–wildlife conflict in the area.

Mithi further informed that officials from the Forest Department, including teams from Namdapha Tiger Reserve and Itanagar, have reached Mayudia. He said efforts are currently underway to track and capture the tiger to prevent further incidents and ensure public safety.

Following the incident, authorities instructed the Forest Department to initiate immediate measures, including relocating the tiger using tranquillisers or other appropriate methods. As a precautionary measure, the district administration has prohibited the movement of two-wheelers along the affected stretch of road until the situation is brought under control.

It may be noted that multiple tiger sightings have been reported in the Mayudia area over the past month. Several videos and images showing tiger movement have been widely circulated on social media, raising serious public concern over the apparent lack of timely preventive action despite repeated reports of the threat.

Further monitoring and coordinated operations by the police and Forest Department are underway to restore safety in the area.
