Arunachal Athletes Win Bronze at Mt. Everest International Taekwondo Event

Itanagar, February 17: Arunachal Pradesh Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona has congratulated three senior Poomsae athletes from the state for their impressive performance at the 2nd Mt. Everest CGI International Taekwondo Event 2026, held in Kathmandu, Nepal, where they secured bronze medals against strong international competition.

The athletes—Khinsan Wangsu, Achum Sangha, and Radha Bangsia—brought laurels to Arunachal Pradesh and India by winning bronze medals in the prestigious tournament, which attracted participants from nearly 20 countries. Competing against some of the finest taekwondo practitioners from across the globe, the trio demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, and determination to secure podium finishes.

Their achievement is being viewed as another significant milestone for Arunachal Pradesh’s growing presence in international taekwondo. Over the years, athletes from the state have consistently performed well at national and international events, helping establish Arunachal as one of India's emerging centres for martial arts excellence.

Congratulating the athletes, Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona praised their dedication and hard work, stating that their success reflects the immense sporting talent present in the state. “The achievement of Khinsan Wangsu, Achum Sangha, and Radha Bangsia has brought immense pride to Arunachal Pradesh and the nation. Their performance is a testament to their determination and the growing strength of taekwondo in our state,” Sona said.

The minister also expressed confidence that the athletes would continue to excel in future competitions and inspire more young sportspersons to pursue taekwondo. He wished them success in their upcoming national and international tournaments and encouraged them to aim for even greater achievements on the global stage.
