ZUF Denies Suspension Claim, Calls Statement Baseless and Misleading

In a press clarification issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity, ZUF rejected a recent statement made by N. Kitovi, which claimed that ZUF had been suspended from the NNPGs’ Working Committee.

The organisation asserted that it remains fully intact and continues to function as an active constituent of the Working Committee, NNPGs, under the leadership of MB Neokpao Konyak, Convener of the Working Committee, NNPGs.

Clarifying its position, ZUF stated that the NNPGs continue to maintain the status quo as of October 31, 2019 - the date on which negotiations with the Government of India were concluded. It further asserted that there is no Kitovi/RM Lotha organisation within the NNPGs or in the ongoing negotiation framework.

The Front alleged that the statement issued by N. Kitovi reflects deep-rooted prejudice against the Zeliangrong people and the ZUF, and warned stakeholders against being misled by unilateral and baseless claims circulated through unofficial channels.

Urging media houses, stakeholders and the general public to exercise caution, ZUF reaffirmed its commitment to unity, collective leadership and adherence to the agreed framework of the Working Committee, NNPGs.

The clarification was issued from the ZUF Council Headquarters on January 30, 2026.
