Pakyong, Jan 27: MLA West Pendam and Advisor to the IPRD, Land Revenue & Disaster Management and IT Departments, LB Das, on Tuesday chaired a meeting at the District Collector’s Office, Pakyong, to address issues arising from construction works undertaken by Indian Railway Construction International Limited in the Rangpo belt.

The meeting focused on reported damages caused by ongoing railway construction activities in Mazitar Daragaon, Zitlang and adjoining areas. It was attended by the District Collector, Pakyong, the SDM (HQ), the Revenue Officer from Rangpo Sub-Division, and senior railway officials, including the Chief General Manager and Joint General Manager.
During the deliberations, residents’ complaints regarding damage to residential houses and disruption of water pipelines were discussed. Taking serious note of the grievances, Das directed that a joint inspection be carried out to assess the actual extent of damage across all affected localities.

It was decided that the joint inspection would be conducted on February 5 in the presence of the MLA, IRCON officials, officials from the SDM Rangpo office, and representatives of the Mines & Geology Department and the Public Health Engineering Department.
A follow-up meeting will be convened after the inspection to review the findings and decide on further action to address the concerns of the affected residents.
