Imphal, Jan 26: The Rongmei Naga People’s Organization (RNPO) on Monday strongly condemned the killing of Shri Mayanglangbam Rishikanta Singh at Tuibong in Churachandpur, which occurred on the night of January 21, 2026. The organization described the incident as unfortunate at a time when efforts are being made by the government and civil society groups to restore normalcy in Manipur.
In a press release issued on January 26, the RNPO expressed concern over the continuing violence in the state and said such incidents undermine ongoing peace initiatives. The organization conveyed its grief and solidarity with the bereaved family.
The RNPO also took serious note of and deplored the burning down of K. Songlung, a Kuki village under Kangpokpi district, allegedly by cadres of the ZUF (K) faction, as reported on social media. The organization appealed to all armed groups to extend an olive branch and resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation rather than violence.
