Guwahati, Jan 26: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has renewed its call for the timely and complete implementation of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Accord, urging both the Central and Assam governments to fulfil all pending commitments made under the historic peace agreement.

Addressing the media ahead of the observance of BTR Accord Day on January 27, ABSU President Dipen Boro announced that the organisation would launch a mass awareness campaign by sending 10,000 postcards and 5,000 emails to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The initiative aims to draw the attention of the Union Government to the unresolved provisions of the accord and seek expedited implementation.
Dipen Boro said the campaign reflects the aspirations of the people of the Bodoland Territorial Region for lasting peace, inclusive development, and effective political empowerment. He noted that the BTR Accord has laid a strong foundation for stability in the region and stressed the importance of implementing all its clauses within the stipulated timeframe.
The student body reiterated several key demands, including the inclusion of additional revenue villages within the BTR and the creation of more constituencies under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) to ensure equitable political representation and strengthen democratic governance in the region.
Boro also welcomed the initiatives taken by the BTC government, led by Chief Executive Member Hagrama Mohilary, to observe BTR Accord Day. He urged the Council administration to continue working sincerely toward the effective implementation of both the BTR Accord and the earlier BTC Accord, emphasizing that sustained efforts are necessary to achieve the objectives envisioned in the peace agreements.

Meanwhile, ABSU is preparing to observe the 6th BTR Accord Day at Batasipur in Sonitpur district, where leaders, students, and community members are expected to participate in programmes highlighting the significance of the accord and its role in bringing peace and development to the region.
The organisation expressed hope that the continued engagement of all stakeholders would accelerate the implementation process and contribute to stronger governance, improved infrastructure, enhanced educational opportunities, and sustainable socio-economic development across the Bodoland Territorial Region.
