Addressing the gathering, the Governor expressed immense pleasure over SSU reaching its Ruby Jubilee and commended the union for its consistent efforts in promoting self-reliance among students throughout their academic journey. He described the organisation’s work as a strong source of inspiration and emphasised that meaningful progress is difficult without purpose and integrity, noting that SSU has served as an important pillar of support for students.
The Governor highlighted SSU’s emphasis on the dignity of labour, financial self-discipline, and independence achieved through personal effort. He remarked that education should not be confined to earning degrees alone, but must shape individuals into responsible and well-rounded human beings. Praising the tradition of recognising students who attain self-reliance through hard work, he said such individuals develop resilience, discipline, and the ability to face life’s challenges with confidence.
Calling upon students to identify and refine their talents, the Governor urged them to contribute actively to the development of Mizoram and the nation. Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, he described youth as key stakeholders in nation-building. He also encouraged SSU leaders to explore microfinance initiatives to strengthen support for needy students, while advising students to uphold integrity, compassion, respect, and service to society. “True success,” he said, “lies not only in personal achievement but also in uplifting others.”
