Manipur Releases ₹10 Lakh Ex-Gratia to Family of Rishikanta Singh

Imphal, January 24: The Government of Manipur has released an ex-gratia sanction order of ₹10 lakh for the next of kin of Mayanglangbam Rishikanta Singh (29), son of N. Tombi, who was killed recently. The amount has been sanctioned from the state corpus fund and credited via RTGS to the account of the District Magistrate, Kakching district, for onward disbursement.

According to the order, the ex-gratia amount will be paid to the family of the deceased after due verification of the next of kin and bank details by the Deputy Commissioner, Kakching.

On Saturday, M. Rameshwar, MLA of Kakching Assembly Constituency, along with members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), visited the Manipur Lok Bhawan to meet the Governor in connection with the matter. During the visit, the sanction order was also formally handed over.

The sanctioned amount of ₹10 lakh comprises ₹5 lakh from the State ex-Gratia Scheme and ₹5 lakh from the Central Scheme for Assistance to Civilian Victims of terrorist, communal, or LWE violence. The Deputy Commissioner, Kakching district, has been directed to issue separate sanction orders for the state and central shares and ensure timely transfer to the bank account of the deceased’s family.

Joint Secretary Mayanglambam Veto Singh stated that necessary procedures for verification and disbursement would be completed without delay to provide immediate relief to the bereaved family.

The release of the ex-gratia amount comes amid continued demands from the family and civil society groups for justice in the case, with the state government reiterating its commitment to support the victim’s family and ensure due process.
