Imphal, January 25, 2026: Security forces carried out a series of successful operations across Manipur on January 24, recovering a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from three different districts, officials said.

In Churachandpur, security personnel recovered weapons and ammunition from the area between Loilamkot and Nalon villages under Churachandpur Police Station jurisdiction. The seized items included three RPG ammunitions, five 30 mm grenades, one .303 calibre bolt-action rifle, two medium-range pumpi (locally made cannons), three pumpi shells, two single-barrel rifles, and ten SBBL cartridges.
In a separate operation in Imphal West, security forces recovered arms and explosives from the Waheng Khuman Mamang Leikai area under Wangoi Police Station. The recovery included two modified .303 rifles, three pistols with magazines, six magazines of different arms, three No. 36 high-explosive grenades, 23 rounds of live ammunition of various calibres, one detonator, four mortar bomb shells, one improvised explosive device (IED), and explosives weighing approximately one kilogram.
Meanwhile, another cache was recovered from the foothills of the Naotrok Hill Range under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East. Items seized during the operation included one double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) gun, one country-made 9mm pistol with an empty magazine, two high-explosive hand grenades, one practice rifle grenade, two INSAS rifle magazines, 20 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, one bulletproof helmet, two bulletproof covers, and two bulletproof iron plates.

Officials said the recoveries were made as part of intensified search and area domination operations aimed at curbing the circulation of illegal arms and ensuring public safety. Further investigation is underway to identify those responsible for concealing the weapons and to determine any links to militant or criminal activities.
Security forces have reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order and said such operations will continue across vulnerable areas of the state.
