Imphal, Jan 29, 2026: In a series of coordinated operations, Manipur Police and security forces arrested several active insurgent cadres and recovered arms and explosives from different parts of the State on Thursday.

According to police sources, two active cadres of KCP (MC Progressive) were arrested from the Palace Gate area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akhom David Singh alias Atomba (24) of Ngangkha Lawai Maning Leikai, Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur district, and Potshangbam Johnson Singh alias Abungo (25) of Moirang Khuthekpi, Moirang Police Station, Bishnupur district. Both were reportedly staying at Khumbong Khaidem Awang Leikai under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district. Two mobile phones were seized from their possession.
In another operation on the same day, security forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro) [G-5], identified as Yumnam Panchayaiphaba Meitei alias Yaikhomba (30), from his residence at Nongada Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was also recovered from him.

Meanwhile, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from the general area of Tarao Lamkhai under Tengnoupal Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The recovered items included three improvised Pompi mortars, one improvised explosive device (IED), three hand grenades, and one walkie-talkie set with charger.
In a related development, security forces successfully neutralised three IEDs at Yangoubung village under Moreh Police Station in Tengnoupal district. The explosive devices had been recovered along the Indo–Myanmar border near Border Pillars 72–73.
Police officials said the operations form part of intensified security measures aimed at curbing insurgent activities and ensuring public safety across Manipur. Further investigations are underway.
