Manipur: Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Security Operation in Imphal West

Imphal, January 23, 2026: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and communication equipment from the adjoining areas of Ngairangbam and Khongakhul villages under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West on Friday.

According to official sources, the recovery was made during a search operation conducted on January 23, 2026, in the areas falling under Patsoi Police Station jurisdiction. The operation led to the seizure of multiple firearms and related items suspected to have been concealed in the area.

The recovered items include one modified .303 rifle along with a magazine, one locally made single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) gun, five pistols with five magazines, and one air pistol. Security forces also recovered one No. 36 high-explosive (HE) grenade, 20 rounds of .303 rifle ammunition, one Baofeng hand-held communication set with charger, and one bulletproof jacket cover.

Officials said the recovery of weapons and explosives is a significant development in ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and maintain law and order in the district. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the ownership of the seized items and to identify individuals or groups linked to the cache.

Security forces have intensified search and area domination operations in vulnerable pockets of Imphal West district as part of measures to ensure public safety and prevent unlawful activities.
