Imphal, January 23, 2026: The Government of Manipur has expressed deep concern over the abduction and killing of Mayanglambam Rishikanta Singh, also known as Ginminthang (29), and announced an ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.
According to an official press release issued on Friday, Rishikanta, son of M. Tombi Singh of Kakching Khunou Hijam Uchan Makhong Leikai, was abducted along with his wife, Chingnu Haokip, from their residence at the district headquarters area of Tuibong under Churachandpur district on January 21. He was later shot dead in the general area of Natjang Village by unidentified armed miscreants.
The state government conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and stated that it shares their grief and sorrow during this difficult time. The ex-gratia assistance of ₹10 lakh has been sanctioned to support the family of the deceased.

Meanwhile, security agencies have intensified operations in and around the affected areas, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime. The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for the victim and his family.
