Manipur: Arms, Ammunition Recovered from Uchol Village Foothills in Imphal East

Imphal, January 23, 2026: Security forces recovered a cache of arms, explosives and communication equipment during search operations conducted at Uchol Village and its surrounding foothill areas under Andro Police Station in Imphal East district on Wednesday.

According to officials, the items seized include one locally made barrel gun, one .22 rifle with magazine, five No. 36 hand grenades (without detonators), one Chinese hand grenade, and 30 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres. Security personnel also recovered four tube launching devices, two BAOFENG wireless sets with chargers, three tear smoke shells, one rubber bullet shell, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing approximately 2 kg each, three arming rings, one tear smoke grenade, two helmets, and one SLR magazine.

Officials said the recovery was made during intensified combing operations aimed at preventing militant activity and ensuring public safety. The seized materials have been taken into custody for examination and further investigation.

Authorities stated that operations in sensitive areas of Imphal East are being sustained, and legal proceedings will follow as per established procedures.
