New Delhi, January 23: Preparations for the much-anticipated 2nd Sikkim Arts and Literature Festival gathered momentum on Thursday as a preliminary planning meeting was held at the official residence of Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Indra Hang Subba in New Delhi. The meeting, chaired by the MP, focused on laying the groundwork for the second edition of the literary and cultural festival, which aims to celebrate Sikkim's rich artistic, literary, and cultural heritage.
The meeting was attended by Syed Shams Jawaid, Vice President of Teamwork Arts Pvt. Ltd.; Sonam Chopel Sherpa, Chairperson of the Students’ Welfare Board; and Tashi Chophel, Secretary of the School Education Department. The participants held detailed discussions on various aspects of planning and organising the festival to ensure its successful execution.
During the deliberations, the proposed dates for the festival were tentatively finalised for April 16, 17 and 18. The participants also discussed key organisational issues, including the selection and invitation of prominent writers, poets, scholars, artists, and cultural practitioners from across the country. Other important matters such as identifying a suitable venue, designing the festival programme, coordinating logistics, and enhancing audience participation were also taken up.
A major highlight of the meeting was the continued association of Teamwork Arts Pvt. Ltd., the internationally acclaimed organisation behind the Jaipur Literature Festival. The company, which played a significant role in organising the inaugural Sikkim Arts and Literature Festival at Yuksam in 2023, expressed its willingness to partner once again for the second edition.
Teamwork Arts reaffirmed its commitment to curating a vibrant and inclusive platform that will bring together celebrated authors, emerging literary voices, artists, and cultural practitioners. The organisation also emphasised its intention to showcase Sikkim's diverse literary traditions, indigenous cultures, and creative talent while encouraging meaningful dialogue and cultural exchange.
The participants expressed confidence that the continued collaboration would further enhance the festival's stature, broaden its national outreach, and improve the quality of its programmes. Organisers said additional planning meetings will be held in the coming weeks to finalise the schedule, guest list, venues, and other logistical arrangements as preparations for the second edition of the Sikkim Arts and Literature Festival gather pace.
