The meeting was conducted at the DPDB Hall, Longleng, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom, NCS. The proceedings began with the introduction of newly inducted board members, followed by a review and confirmation of the minutes of the previous DPDB meeting.
One of the key agenda items was a proposal submitted by the Phom People Council (PPC) seeking support for the celebration of the 75th Platinum Jubilee of Longleng town, proposed to be held in November 2026. Members of the board discussed the significance of the milestone event and its potential to highlight the district’s history, achievements and cultural heritage.
Following detailed deliberations, the board agreed in principle to move forward with the proposed celebration. To ensure systematic planning and coordination, it was decided that committee members would be constituted to undertake preliminary preparations and formulate plans for the year-long activities leading up to the jubilee celebrations. The event is expected to bring together residents, community organizations, government departments and stakeholders to commemorate the town’s growth and development over the past seven and a half decades.
During the meeting, the chairman also directed the Department of Horticulture to make a detailed presentation on its activities, achievements and ongoing programmes during the next DPDB session. The presentation is expected to provide board members with an overview of the department’s contribution to agricultural development and livelihood generation in the district.
The board also reviewed preparations for the 77th Republic Day celebrations to be held at the district headquarters. Members discussed logistical arrangements and finalized the allocation of responsibilities among various departments to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the national event.
