Aizawl, November 8, 2025: In a significant step toward strengthening financial inclusion and expanding banking services across rural Mizoram, the Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd. has entered into a partnership with CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The agreement was formally signed on November 7, 2025, by A. Lallungmuana, Chief Executive Officer of Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank, and Mohammed Azeez Udin, Principal Consultant of CSC’s Regional Office in Guwahati. The collaboration is expected to enhance the reach of banking services, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the state where access to financial institutions remains limited.
Under the terms of the agreement, the bank’s Business Correspondents (BCs) will be integrated into and supported through the extensive network of Common Service Centres (CSCs). This arrangement will enable the Apex Bank to leverage CSC’s digital infrastructure and grassroots presence to provide banking services to a larger section of the population.
Officials said the partnership will significantly improve the bank’s ability to deliver financial services in rural and hard-to-reach locations. Through the CSC network, residents of remote villages will gain easier access to essential banking facilities, including account-related services, digital transactions, fund transfers, financial assistance programmes, and other banking products without having to travel long distances.
The collaboration is also expected to accelerate the adoption of digital banking services in the state. By utilizing CSC centres as service delivery points, customers will be able to access secure and convenient financial services closer to their homes, thereby reducing barriers to financial inclusion.
Representatives from both organizations described the MoU as a landmark initiative that aligns with national efforts to promote digital governance and inclusive economic growth. They expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen the operational reach of Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank while improving customer service and accessibility.
Officials further noted that the initiative would contribute to empowering rural communities by bringing formal banking services to previously underserved areas, supporting economic development, and encouraging greater participation in the digital financial ecosystem.
The partnership is expected to play a crucial role in advancing financial inclusion across Mizoram and ensuring that banking services are accessible to citizens regardless of their geographical location.
