Gangtok, September 16: From 9 to 15 September 2025, the soldiers of the Indian Army’s Trishakti Corps undertook and successfully completed a demanding route march across Sikkim’s rugged terrain, scaling altitudes of up to 17,000 feet. Over six days and nights, the troops braved steep slopes, icy winds, and treacherous paths - carrying full battle loads that included weapons, equipment, and survival gear - simulating battlefield conditions in extreme environments.
This rigorous exercise pushed the soldiers’ physical endurance, mental resilience, and camaraderie to the limits, while reinforcing their preparedness to operate under the most challenging conditions. Despite the Army’s increasing reliance on advanced technology, drones, and smart logistics, such high-altitude drills remain crucial in ensuring soldiers can perform effectively even when technology fails or environmental factors limit its use.
Lt Gen Zubin A. Minwalla, GOC, Trishakti Corps, emphasized:
"Technology enhances our capabilities, but it is the soldier’s grit and teamwork that ultimately wins battles. This march reinforces our confidence in overcoming adversity and succeeding even in the harshest conditions."
