Governor Advises Officer Trainees to Serve with Dedication and Embrace Innovation

Aizawl, September 16, 2025: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday urged young civil service officers to serve the public with sincerity, integrity, and dedication while embracing innovation and technological advancement to address the evolving needs of society.

The Governor was interacting with 34 officer trainees from the Mizoram Civil Service (MCS), Mizoram Finance & Accounts Service (MF&AS), and Mizoram Information Service (MIS) who are currently undergoing foundation training at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), MINECO, Aizawl. The interaction was held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.

Addressing the trainees, Dr. Singh emphasized that public service is a responsibility that requires commitment, honesty, and a genuine concern for the welfare of the people. He encouraged the officers to make the most of their training period by actively learning, asking questions, and seeking solutions to challenges they may encounter in their careers.

The Governor stressed the importance of developing an innovative mindset and being open to new ideas, particularly when addressing complex administrative and developmental issues. He noted that innovation and adaptability are crucial for effective governance in a rapidly changing world.

Highlighting the growing significance of digitisation in public administration, Dr. Singh advised the trainees to continuously upgrade their skills and remain informed about emerging technologies. He said that digital tools and modern governance practices can help improve service delivery and ensure greater efficiency and transparency in government functioning.

The Governor also underscored the need for officers to understand the aspirations and requirements of the people they serve. He urged them to formulate practical and inclusive policies that would ensure government benefits reach even the most remote and marginalized sections of society.

“Be change-makers,” he told the trainees, encouraging them to strive for excellence and earn recognition through dedicated service and meaningful contributions to the state and the nation.

During the programme, ATI Director Rita Lalnunmawii Pachuau briefed the Governor on the institute’s activities. She informed that ATI is conducting 24 state-funded training programmes and 32 programmes sponsored by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) this year to strengthen the capacity of government officials.

The event was hosted by Lalngaihzuala, Private Secretary to the Governor, while Ajit Roy, Secretary to the Governor, also addressed the trainees and shared words of encouragement before the programme concluded.
