Agartala, Sept 8: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated 14 projects under the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education and laid the foundation stones for five more, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to inclusive development and last-mile delivery of services.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Saha emphasized that the government is striving to take services to the doorstep of the last person in society. He highlighted the initiatives taken to strengthen Anganwadi Centres, which play a vital role in delivering nutritious meals to infants and pregnant mothers, as well as providing pre-primary education.
The Chief Minister announced additional financial allocation for the infrastructure development of Anganwadi Centres, calling them a reflection of the state and central government’s joint commitment to ensuring children’s health, nutrition, and early education.
“Service, good governance, and welfare of the poor are our main mantra,” Dr. Saha said, underscoring that social welfare schemes and infrastructure development remain a top priority of his government.
The projects inaugurated and initiated today are expected to significantly enhance the capacity of social welfare services across the state, benefiting thousands of families, particularly women and children.
