Guwahati, September 1: The 4th edition of the North East India Festival (NEIF), scheduled from September 19–21, 2025 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, will spotlight two of the region’s most dynamic music icons - Tripura’s Rap King Borkung Hrangkhawl and Nagaland’s Seyievinuo Chuzho.
Known for his bold lyrics and electrifying stage presence, Borkung is set to bring his high-energy rap, blending contemporary beats with socially conscious messages. A celebrated rapper, songwriter, and singer, he has long been a cultural voice from Tripura, and his performance promises to be one of the festival’s biggest highlights.
Sharing the spotlight, Seyievinuo Chuzho - songwriter, influencer, and researcher - will lead her band Seyie Intrepid, bringing an innovative Naga folk-fusion experience to Singapore. Blending indigenous melodies with modern rhythms, Seyie has earned recognition across borders, having performed in England and other international platforms. Her music, often described as weaving “melody with academia and community spirit,” bridges tradition and modernity with depth and harmony.
The festival, themed around India’s Act East Policy, aims to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Northeast India and ASEAN nations. It will feature over 400 delegates from 10 countries, a two-day exhibition of Northeast India’s finest agri-horticultural products, handicrafts, textiles, and cuisines, along with over 150 folk dancers showcasing traditional performances from across the region.
Fashion shows, cultural showcases, and performances by other leading artists - including Bollywood singer Zubeen Garg from Assam and Singapore’s rapper Yung Raja - will add to the festivities.
Chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta said the festival will act as a platform for cultural diplomacy, trade, and tourism while offering free entry to ensure maximum participation. “It’s the biggest ever Indian initiative in ASEAN, bringing together government leaders, entrepreneurs, and artists to celebrate the Northeast,” he added.
With Borkung’s powerful rap and Seyievinuo’s soulful folk-fusion, the stage is set for an unforgettable celebration of the Northeast’s cultural vibrance in Singapore.
