Nagaland Explores Development Opportunities with JICA in New Delhi

New Delhi, September 16, 2025: In a significant step towards strengthening international cooperation and promoting sustainable economic growth, Abu Mehta, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), held a meeting with senior representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The meeting, attended by officials from IDAN, was a follow-up to discussions initiated during a recent official visit to Japan. The engagement focused on identifying opportunities for collaboration in key sectors that could contribute to Nagaland’s long-term economic development and investment landscape.

During the discussions, both sides explored potential areas of partnership in industrial development, infrastructure enhancement, investment promotion, capacity building and other development initiatives aimed at generating employment and improving livelihoods in the state. The deliberations also emphasized the importance of sustainable and inclusive growth, with a focus on creating opportunities that would directly benefit local communities.

Officials from JICA expressed interest in understanding Nagaland’s development priorities and exploring ways in which Japanese expertise and cooperation could support the state’s aspirations. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to fostering stronger ties and building a framework for future collaboration.

Speaking after the meeting, Abu Mehta expressed appreciation to the JICA team for their warm hospitality and constructive engagement. He noted that the interaction marked an important step in expanding Nagaland’s international partnerships and attracting investment that can contribute to the state’s socio-economic transformation.
