KOHIMA, Sept 10: The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has announced the schedule for the submission of examination forms for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations 2026. According to a notification issued by the Board, the online form fill-up process for Regular, Repeater and Compartmental candidates will be conducted from September 22 to October 10, 2025.

NBSE Announces HSLC & HSSLC 2026 Exam Form Fill-Up Dates

Students seeking to appear for the HSLC and HSSLC examinations have been directed to access the NBSE portal at nbsenl.edu.in and complete the application process within the stipulated period. Educational institutions and examination centres will be responsible for verifying candidate details online and ensuring payment of the prescribed examination fees before the deadline.

In an important policy change, the Board has announced that from the 2026 examinations onward, candidates previously categorized as Regular Repeaters, Centre Repeaters and Compartmental candidates will be grouped under a single category known as “Repeater.” The Board stated that such candidates must submit their forms through the school where they last studied. Heads of Centre Schools have been requested to provide necessary assistance and guidance to eligible candidates during the application process.

NBSE also reiterated its directive to schools regarding student welfare and examination preparedness. The Board emphasized that educational institutions should not conduct Selection Tests at the Class X and Class XII levels for the purpose of screening out academically weaker students. Instead, schools have been encouraged to provide remedial coaching, special classes and additional academic support to help students improve their performance and successfully appear for the board examinations.

The NBSE stated that detailed guidelines, procedures and rules for the submission of forms have been provided in the annexures accompanying the official notification and urged all institutions to adhere strictly to the instructions.
