Imphal, September 11, 2025: In a significant operation, Manipur Police and Security Forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the foothill areas of Sonapur and Jairolpokpi village under Jiribam Police Station, Jiribam district. The seized items include:
• 1 modified SBBL gun
• 3 country-made muzzle-loading SBBL guns
• 1 .22 pistol
• 1 country-made .22 double-barrel shotgun
• 8 rounds of 12 bore cartridges
• 56 vials and 3 small bottles containing gunpowder
• 240 pieces of lead
• 1 gunpowder-filling iron rod
On the same day, the Security Forces arrested an active cadre of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from his residence at Lamsang Makha Leikai under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West district. The arrested individual, identified as Moirangthem Ranjit Singh (43), is alleged to have been involved in extortion and mediating through intimidation in loan recovery cases.
From Singh’s possession, the police seized:
• 1 9mm pistol with magazine
• 1 pompi action shotgun
• 18 rounds of 12 bore cartridges
• 2 empty magazines each of INSAS LMG and INSAS rifle
• 1 mobile handset and 1 Aadhaar card

Police have stated that the operations were part of their continued efforts to curb illegal arms circulation and militant activities in the state. Investigations are ongoing, and further action is expected against those involved in illegal arms possession and extortion.
