Imphal, Sept 9: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday felicitated Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi, recipient of the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award 2025, during a special ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Imphal, recognising her exemplary contribution to the nursing profession and healthcare services.
Ranjita Devi, who serves as a Nursing Sister at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan following her national recognition. She was accompanied by L. Usharani Devi, Director of JNIMS, along with senior officials from the institution.
During the felicitation programme, Governor Bhalla congratulated Ranjita Devi on receiving one of the country's highest honours for nursing professionals. He praised her unwavering dedication, professional excellence, and years of selfless service in caring for patients, stating that her achievement has brought immense pride not only to JNIMS but also to the entire state of Manipur.
The Governor highlighted the vital role played by nurses in the healthcare system, describing them as the backbone of patient care. Instituted by the Government of India, the National Florence Nightingale Award is the country's highest national honour for nursing professionals. Named after the pioneer of modern nursing, the award recognises outstanding service rendered by nurses and nursing personnel in hospitals, community healthcare, education, and public health. It honours individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, dedication, and professional excellence in improving healthcare delivery and patient welfare.
