MSRLM Signs MoU with PNB to Boost Rural Banking and Women’s Empowerment in Manipur

Imphal, September 8, 2025: The Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Punjab National Bank (PNB) at the New Secretariat, Imphal, marking a significant step toward financial inclusion and rural empowerment.

The partnership will enable Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Manipur to access a wider range of banking services, including savings accounts and credit linkages, while also creating opportunities for eligible SHG members to serve as Business Correspondents in unbanked blocks.

Additionally, the collaboration will support the “Lakhpati Didi” initiative, aimed at ensuring sustainable income generation and financial independence for rural women.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Smt. N. Bandana Devi, IAS, State Mission Director, MSRLM, and Shri Vinay Kumar, Zonal Manager, PNB Guwahati Zone, along with senior officials from both institutions.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasized that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to inclusive growth, women’s empowerment, and rural development by bridging the gap between financial institutions and marginalized communities.

With this collaboration, Manipur aims to accelerate the transformation of rural livelihoods, enabling thousands of SHG members to access formal financial services and build sustainable futures.
