Naharlagun, September 8, 2025: Hundreds of people gathered in Naharlagun on Monday to demand justice for the late Bengia Ama (Gora), whose death has triggered allegations of medical negligence and sparked widespread public outrage across Arunachal Pradesh.

The protest witnessed the participation of family members, relatives, well-wishers, students, women’s groups and concerned citizens, who marched through the town carrying placards and banners demanding accountability in the healthcare system. Protesters raised slogans such as “No More Medical Negligence,” “Justice for Bengia Ama,” and “A Mother’s Voice Deserves Justice,” urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Family members of the deceased expressed deep anguish and maintained that they would not accept the body until justice is delivered and those responsible are held accountable. They alleged that lapses in medical care contributed to Bengia Ama’s death and called for strict action against the doctor and nursing staff allegedly involved in the case.

The protest gained further momentum after the AAPSU Women Wing extended its full support to the bereaved family. The organization stated that it would continue to stand with the family until a fair inquiry is conducted and accountability is fixed. Representatives of the women’s wing emphasized that the issue extends beyond a single case and reflects broader concerns regarding patient safety and the quality of healthcare services in the state.

As news of the incident spread, expressions of solidarity emerged from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Several civil society organizations, community leaders and concerned citizens voiced support for the family’s demand for justice and called upon the state government to intervene promptly. Many stressed that public confidence in healthcare institutions can only be maintained if allegations of negligence are investigated transparently and responsibly.
