Imphal, September 7, 2025: The 6th International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies was observed on Sunday at the RD Wing Complex, Imphal, with a strong call for sustainable action to address air pollution. The programme was jointly organized by the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH), the National Health Mission (NHM), and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Manipur.
Held under the global theme “Racing for Air”, the event underscored the urgent need to adopt eco-friendly practices and collective efforts to ensure healthier air for present and future generations.
The function was graced by Dr. Chambo Gonmei, Director of Health Services (DHS), Dr. Hemantakumar, District Family Welfare Services (DFWS), and Dr. N. Bino, Additional Director of Medical Directorate (ADMD), DHS, who attended as presidium members.

As part of the observance, tree saplings and caps were distributed to participants, symbolizing the promotion of greenery and awareness. A cleanliness drive was also conducted, led by the Director of Health Services along with SNO-NPCCHH, DFOIW and team, Food Safety Officer and team, Medical and Health Workers (MHWs), the Principal, and students of the Female Health Worker Training School (FHWST), RD Wing Complex.
Officials highlighted that initiatives like plantation and community-driven cleanliness activities are small yet impactful steps towards mitigating air pollution and safeguarding public health.
