Manipur Police Arrest Two Arambai Tenggol Members, Seize Large Arms Cache in Imphal

Imphal, August 31, 2025: In a major breakthrough against illegal arms trafficking, Manipur Police arrested two members of the proscribed group Arambai Tenggol (AT) from Imphal West district on August 30.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Tondomba Singh (27) of Wangjing Lamding Bazar, Thoubal district, and Tourangbam Amarjit Meitei (20) alias Yaima of Lamding Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district. Police said the duo was involved in the possession and trafficking of illegal weapons for carrying out prejudicial activities.

From their possession, security forces seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition, including:

7 HK33 rifles

2 M4A1 carbine guns

2 Glock .45 auto pistols with four magazines

28 empty HK33 rifle magazines

8 empty M4A1 carbine magazines

100 rounds of .45 ammunition (packed in four cases)

2 luggage bags

4 mobile handsets

2 wallets with ₹4,430

2 Aadhaar cards

1 four-wheeler vehicle with key

The seized weapons are suspected to have been intended for illegal distribution and use in violent activities. Authorities believe the arrest will deliver a blow to arms smuggling networks operating in the state.

The arrested men were produced before the court and have been remanded to nine days of police custody for further investigation.
