Tseminyu, August 29, 2025: Mteisuding Zeliang has been elected as the new President of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) for the 2025–2027 tenure during the Federation’s 31st General Conference held at Tseminyu on Friday.
His election marks a significant milestone in the history of the apex Naga student body, as he becomes the first individual from the Zeliangrong community to assume the presidency of the NSF. The development has been widely welcomed by delegates and student leaders attending the conference, who described it as a reflection of the Federation’s commitment to inclusivity and representation of all Naga communities.
Alongside the election of the new president, the NSF also constituted its new team of office bearers for the 2025–27 term. Vimeyekho was elected as Vice President, while Kenilo Kent will serve as General Secretary. Veze Tünyi was chosen as Assistant General Secretary, Katho P. Awomi as Finance Secretary, Ajo Rengma as Education Secretary, and Temjentoshi as Publicity and Information Secretary.
Marikho was elected Speaker of the Federation Assembly, while the posts of Social and Cultural Secretary and Assembly Secretary remain vacant and are expected to be filled at a later stage.

The NSF, regarded as one of the most influential student organisations in Nagaland and the wider Naga areas, has played a pivotal role in advocating for educational reforms, student welfare, indigenous rights and issues affecting Naga youth. Over the years, the Federation has also been actively involved in social and political matters concerning the Naga people.
Delegates from various Naga tribes and student bodies across the region attended the conference, which concluded with a strong call for unity, inclusiveness and collective efforts to strengthen the voice of Naga youth. The newly elected team is expected to lead the Federation in addressing key educational and socio-political challenges over the next two years.
