Imphal, September 23, 2025: The 56th Foundation Day of the Manipur State Museum was celebrated today in Imphal with the Governor of Manipur Ajay Kumar Bhalla, accompanied by the First Lady, gracing the occasion as chief guest.
As part of the celebrations, the Governor released the book “Hiyang Hiren of Churachand Maharaja” authored by K. Sobita Devi and inaugurated a special exhibition featuring rare photographs of Hiyang Hiren alongside precious artifacts, including gold and silver ornaments.
The Governor also planted an Uningthou Nachumbi sapling under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, underscoring the importance of conservation and environmental stewardship.

In his address, the Governor praised the Museum’s role in safeguarding Manipur’s rich cultural legacy for more than five decades. He described museums as “living institutions” that connect the past, present, and future, and stressed their role in educating and inspiring younger generations.
The event drew dignitaries, cultural scholars, and heritage enthusiasts who highlighted the museum’s continued importance as a guardian of Manipur’s history and identity.
