Imphal, September 23, 2025: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday attended the Governor's Best Entrepreneur & AMEA's Outstanding Awards ceremony in Imphal, where seven entrepreneurs were honoured for their exceptional contributions to the state's growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The event was organised by the All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association (AMEA) in collaboration with the Directorate of Textiles, Commerce and Industries, Government of Manipur. The programme brought together entrepreneurs, industry leaders, government officials, startup founders, and representatives from the business community to celebrate innovation, enterprise, and economic development in the state.
During the ceremony, the Governor presented awards to seven outstanding entrepreneurs in recognition of their achievements in promoting innovation, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to Manipur's economic growth. The awardees were recognised for demonstrating resilience, business excellence, and a strong commitment to developing sustainable enterprises despite various challenges.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla congratulated the award recipients and praised their determination, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit. He said successful entrepreneurs not only build businesses but also create livelihoods, generate employment, and contribute significantly to the overall development of society.
The Governor highlighted the growing importance of entrepreneurship in driving economic transformation and emphasised that innovation and enterprise are essential pillars for achieving sustainable development. He noted that entrepreneurs play a key role in strengthening local industries, encouraging investment, promoting self-reliance, and improving the state's economic competitiveness.
Calling upon the youth of Manipur to explore entrepreneurship as a career path, Governor Bhalla encouraged them to view entrepreneurship as more than just a business venture. He described it as a mission of nation-building that empowers individuals to become job creators rather than job seekers. He urged aspiring entrepreneurs to leverage their creativity, skills, and determination to build enterprises capable of contributing to the state's long-term prosperity.
The Governor also expressed confidence that Manipur possesses immense potential to emerge as a leading hub of innovation, startups, and enterprise in the Northeast. He said the state's talented youth, rich natural resources, traditional craftsmanship, and strategic location provide a strong foundation for sustainable industrial and entrepreneurial growth.
Officials from the Directorate of Textiles, Commerce and Industries highlighted various government initiatives aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, including support for startups, skill development programmes, financial assistance schemes, and market linkage opportunities. They noted that strengthening collaboration between government agencies, industry associations, and financial institutions would further accelerate the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
