Lalduhoma Attends NECCOD Fresher Social in New Delhi, Lauds Church’s Role in Nation Building

NEW DELHI, September 7: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma attended the 33rd Fresher Social organized by the North East Catholic Community of Delhi (NECCOD) on Sunday at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary Millennium Hall, where he praised the Catholic Church for its enduring contributions to education, healthcare, and social development across India.

The event, which welcomed students from the Northeast who have recently arrived in the national capital for higher studies and professional pursuits, brought together a large gathering of students, community leaders, church representatives, and members of the Northeast diaspora. The annual programme serves as a platform to help freshers settle into life in Delhi while fostering unity and mutual support among people from the region.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Lalduhoma highlighted the historic role played by the Catholic Church in shaping society through its commitment to education, healthcare, and humanitarian service. He noted that the Church has made significant contributions to human development in Mizoram and many other parts of the country by establishing schools, colleges, hospitals, and social service institutions that have benefited generations of people.

“The Catholic Church has played an invaluable role in shaping society through education and healthcare, while NECCOD continues to serve as a strong platform that unites our youth and strengthens our bonds as a community,” the Chief Minister said.

Lalduhoma also expressed his appreciation to NECCOD for its efforts in supporting students and community members from the Northeast residing in Delhi. He commended the organization for creating a sense of belonging among young people who often face challenges while adjusting to life away from home. He noted that such initiatives help students build networks of friendship, receive guidance, and stay connected to their cultural roots.
