Shillong, September 16, 2025: The National People’s Party (NPP) today formally welcomed Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, former Lok Sabha member from Outer Manipur, into its fold. The event was held at the party’s headquarters in Shillong, where NPP’s National President, Conrad K. Sangma, extended a warm reception to Dr. Lorho.
Dr. Lorho, 65, joined the NPP after resigning from the Naga People’s Front (NPF), citing personal reasons. In his resignation letter to NPF president Apong Pongener, he expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the party but noted that personal considerations required him to step down from active membership.
“This decision has not been easy for me to make. I appreciate the opportunities the Naga People’s Front had given me to serve in various capacities as an active member,” Dr. Lorho stated.

A medical doctor by training and a respected politician from the Mao community, Dr. Lorho was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 on an NPF ticket. He assured that his focus would now be on strengthening the party’s organizational structure and expanding its influence in Manipur.
Conrad K. Sangma expressed confidence that Dr. Lorho’s experience and support base would bolster NPP’s efforts in the region. “We are confident that Dr. Lorho will be an asset to the party and will work closely to further NPP’s mantra of ‘One Voice, One North East,’” he said.
The inclusion of Dr. Lorho is seen as a strategic move to enhance the party’s outreach in Manipur and strengthen its political footprint in the Northeast.
