CM Lalduhoma Inaugurates Tualpui Agro-Tourism Festival in Khawzawl

Khawzawl, Sept. 16: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday inaugurated the Tualpui Agro-Tourism Festival at Tualpui village in Khawzawl district, emphasizing the importance of integrating agriculture, tourism, and sustainable development to create new livelihood opportunities for rural communities.

The festival was jointly organized by the Association of Tour Operators Mizoram (ATOM), the Tourism Department, and the Agriculture Department. The programme was coordinated by Tourism Director Lalrodingi and attended by Champhai North MLA Er. H. Ginzalala, government officials, community leaders, and local residents.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised the people of Tualpui for their dedication, hard work, and strong community spirit. He described the village as a shining example of how collective effort and perseverance can contribute to local development. Lalduhoma said the state government highly values the contributions of grassroots workers and remains committed to supporting initiatives that generate long-term benefits for rural communities.

Highlighting the growing potential of agro-tourism, he said the sector can play a significant role in strengthening the rural economy while showcasing Mizoram’s natural beauty, agricultural practices, and cultural heritage to visitors. According to the Chief Minister, agro-tourism not only creates additional income opportunities for farmers but also promotes sustainable tourism and rural entrepreneurship.

Lalduhoma further announced that the proposed improvement of the Tualpui–Champhai road under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) would significantly enhance connectivity in the region. Better road infrastructure, he said, would facilitate tourism growth, improve market access for agricultural products, and accelerate overall development.

Declaring Tualpui a “model village”, the Chief Minister cited its fertile land, picturesque surroundings, and strong agricultural base. He revealed that agreements have already been signed with partner companies to improve infrastructure and create employment opportunities for local residents. The project, he said, aims to combine cultural preservation, modern amenities, and environmentally sustainable practices.

Speaking on the occasion, Er. H. Ginzalala, MLA of Champhai North, expressed gratitude to the people of Tualpui for hosting the festival and supporting the agro-tourism initiative. He stressed that agriculture and tourism can complement each other in driving economic growth and urged villagers to continue embracing innovation while preserving their traditional values and way of life.

The event was also addressed by Education Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana, Forest Minister Lalthansanga, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister Lalmuanpuia Punte, and Khawzawl Deputy Commissioner Vanlalthiana, all of whom highlighted the importance of community participation and sustainable development.

Officials from Aizawl, Khawzawl, and Champhai districts, along with party leaders and tourism stakeholders, attended the festival, which celebrated the rich agricultural heritage, scenic beauty, and tourism potential of Tualpui village.
