Dibrugarh, September 1: A remarkable contribution to Assam's historical and cultural literature was unveiled on Sunday with the release of Luitar Paror Buranji Kukh, a comprehensive 1,465-page book documenting the history of the state's diverse ethnic communities. The monumental work is the result of 30 years of dedicated research by 92-year-old retired teacher Chowdang Nagen Kumar Baruah of Dibrugarh.
The book was formally released at a ceremony held at Dibrugarh Jatiya Vidyalaya, where retired Dibrugarh University History professor Dr. Jahnobi Gogoi unveiled the publication in the presence of scholars, writers, historians, students, and members of the literary community. The event was organized by the literary organization Chintadoot Sahitya Chora, which hailed the publication as a landmark achievement in preserving Assam's rich heritage.
Luitar Paror Buranji Kukh represents the culmination of three decades of painstaking research, documentation, and analysis by Baruah. The book explores the origins, traditions, customs, and historical evolution of the many ethnic communities that have shaped Assam's social and cultural landscape over centuries. Through extensive study and compilation of historical records and oral traditions, the author has sought to present a detailed account of the state's diverse peoples and their contributions.
