Guwahati, Sept. 16: In a series of coordinated crackdowns, Assam Police have seized drugs worth nearly ₹9 crore, arresting several traffickers in the process.
In Cachar district, police apprehended four individuals posing as “businessmen” and recovered 65 kg of cannabis, 165 grams of heroin, and ₹75,000 in cash. Officials said the accused were operating as part of a wider trafficking network.
Meanwhile, in Karbi Anglong, police intercepted two drug traffickers and seized a massive consignment of 1,500 kg of ganja. The bust is among the largest drug seizures in the region in recent months.

Assam Police took to social media to highlight the operations with the message: “Drug Deals Jail Meals Career Crash, Courtesy Assam Police.”
Authorities said the crackdown reflects the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards the drug menace in the state. Investigations are underway to trace the wider supply chain and identify cross-border linkages.
