Guwahati, Sept. 27, 2025: The Assam Government has directed Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on or before October 6 as part of an ongoing investigation. The directive was issued amid the state's continued efforts to ensure a comprehensive and impartial probe into the matter.
According to an official statement released by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), the CID team is carrying out the investigation with complete professionalism and is committed to uncovering all relevant facts. The government emphasized that the probe is being conducted in accordance with established legal procedures and without any external interference.
"The CID investigative team is working with full dedication to ensure a fair, transparent, and thorough investigation," the official statement said, reiterating the government's commitment to due process and accountability.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also assured the public that law enforcement agencies would conduct the investigation impartially while maintaining the rule of law. Stressing the professionalism of the Assam Police and the CID, he said the state government has full confidence in the investigative agencies.
"Law and order in Assam remains strong. The Assam Police have consistently demonstrated their professionalism and capability, and in this case, during the interrogation process, both Assam Police and CID will uphold justice and ensure a fair outcome," the Chief Minister stated.

Authorities have not disclosed the specific nature of the case or the allegations being investigated, citing the ongoing nature of the inquiry. Officials said maintaining confidentiality at this stage is essential to protect the integrity of the investigation.
The CID is expected to record the statements of the two individuals after they appear before the agency. Investigators may also examine documentary and digital evidence as part of the probe before deciding on any further course of action.
The state government reiterated that all proceedings will be conducted strictly in accordance with the law and that appropriate action, if warranted by the investigation, will be taken based on the evidence collected.
