Guwahati, Sept. 27, 2025: The Assam Government has directed Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) by October 6 as part of an ongoing probe.
According to an official update from the Chief Minister’s Office, the CID investigative team is working with “full dedication to ensure a fair, transparent, and thorough investigation.”
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining order and transparency, stating:
“Law and order in Assam remains strong. The Assam Police have consistently demonstrated their professionalism and capability, and in this case, during the interrogation process, both Assam Police and CID will uphold justice and ensure a fair outcome.”

Authorities have not disclosed further details of the case under investigation but stressed that due process will be strictly followed.
