Agartala, August 29, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated the newly renovated Para Sundari Kali Temple in Ward No. 20 of Agartala, reaffirming the state government's commitment to preserving Tripura’s rich cultural, spiritual and historical heritage.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by local residents, devotees, community leaders and government officials, who gathered to witness the reopening of the temple following extensive renovation work. The project was undertaken to restore the temple’s traditional architecture, improve facilities for devotees and ensure the preservation of the site for future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual foundation in society. He stated that spirituality and cultural values play a vital role in promoting social harmony, moral responsibility and community well-being. The Chief Minister noted that preserving places of worship is essential not only for religious purposes but also for safeguarding the cultural identity and traditions of the people.
“A spiritual mindset is crucial for preserving our culture and heritage. Such institutions help strengthen social unity and inspire future generations to remain connected with their roots,” he said.
Dr. Saha also offered prayers for the happiness, peace and prosperity of the people of Tripura. He highlighted the significance of temples and other religious institutions in fostering a sense of belonging and communal harmony among citizens.

The Chief Minister said the state government has been actively working to preserve and promote cultural and spiritual sites across Tripura. He noted that strengthening religious and cultural infrastructure can contribute significantly to tourism, generate local economic opportunities and showcase the state's unique heritage to visitors from across the country.
Officials said the renovation of the temple forms part of broader efforts to conserve heritage sites and improve public amenities associated with them. Such initiatives are expected to enhance the socio-cultural landscape of Tripura while encouraging greater public participation in preserving the state's traditions and values.
The event concluded with religious rituals and prayers, with devotees expressing appreciation for the restoration of one of Agartala’s cherished places of worship.
