Manipur Hosts Two-Day AI Workshop to Strengthen Citizen-Centric Governance

Imphal, Aug 22: The Government of Manipur, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Department of Information Technology, successfully organised a two-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop in Imphal on August 21 and 22, 2025.

The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Thokchom Kiran Kumar, IAS, Secretary (IT), Government of Manipur, along with Shri Nambam Deben, Director (IT), Manipur, and Shri Potsangbam Henry, Head of the State e-Mission Team (SeMT), Manipur.

Focusing on the theme of State Capacity Building, the sessions highlighted the use of AI in:

Good Governance

Safe & Trusted AI Practices

AI Tools to Boost Productivity

AI for Official Documentation

More than 50 senior officers actively participated in the workshop, engaging in discussions and hands-on sessions on the integration of AI to improve transparency, efficiency, and service delivery in government departments.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasised that AI adoption in governance would not only streamline administrative functions but also ensure faster, more citizen-centric services.

By investing in AI today, Manipur aims to build a governance model that is transparent, efficient, and responsive to the needs of its citizens.
