Foundation Stone Laid for Multi-Storied Flats at Itanagar Capital Complex

Itanagar, August 11, 2025: In a significant step towards modernising urban infrastructure and improving housing facilities in the state capital, the foundation stone for the Construction of Multi-Storied Flats in place of old government quarters at the Itanagar Capital Complex was laid on Monday. The ceremony was attended by Arunachal Pradesh Urban Development Minister Shri Balo Raja and Advisor to the Minister Shri Techi Kaso, along with senior officials and stakeholders.

The ambitious project aims to replace ageing and dilapidated government residential quarters with modern multi-storied apartment complexes designed to meet contemporary housing standards. Officials said the initiative would not only improve living conditions for government employees but also promote efficient use of valuable urban land in the rapidly expanding capital region.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasised that the project represents much more than the construction of new buildings. It reflects the government’s commitment to planned, organised and sustainable urban development in Itanagar. They highlighted the need for disciplined growth as the city continues to expand and face increasing pressure on land and infrastructure.

During the event, officials also underscored the importance of responsible land management and strict adherence to regulations governing public property. It was reiterated that government land belongs to the people and must be protected from illegal occupation and misuse. A strong warning was issued against encroachment, particularly by individuals serving in public institutions.

“Government land is public land. Encroachment will not be tolerated, and those who choose to violate the law must be prepared to face the consequences,” officials stated, stressing the administration’s resolve to safeguard public assets.

The new housing project is expected to set a benchmark for future urban redevelopment initiatives in Arunachal Pradesh. Besides providing modern residential facilities, it seeks to optimise land use, improve urban aesthetics and support sustainable city planning. Officials expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute significantly to transforming Itanagar into a more organised, efficient and livable capital city for future generations.
