Mahur, Aug 6, 2025: A crucial preparatory meeting was held today at Mahur Inspection Bungalow (IB) involving leaders of the Indigenous Student Forum (ISF) & Indigenous Women Forum (IWF) Mahur Branch, Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU), Hmar Students’ Association (HSA), and Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) to finalise plans for tomorrow’s Indigenous Peoples’ Forum (IPF) programme.
The house unanimously resolved to organise a mass gathering on August 19 to press for the establishment of the long-pending Mahur Degree College and the Tribal Medical College at Lasang. The demands were previously assured during a meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on January 23, 2022.

Organisers said the colleges are vital for improving access to higher education and healthcare for tribal communities in the region, and they intend to mobilise large-scale public participation to highlight the urgency of these commitments.
